Escape. Reset. Breathe again.

Milele Ranch is a desert oasis taking shape in Arizona — a place to stay, play, and breathe again, where every visit helps build a home for people who have had nowhere to go.

One stay fee — everything included Three warm meals a day for anyone in the community, once we open Accessible by design Arizona — campus location to be announced

Stay & Play

First, Milele Ranch is a getaway. Guests come to a private, accessible pod on its own quarter acre of desert forest — spaced far apart, never clustered — with a natural swimming lake, an all-glass event center, and staff who treat you like the most important person here. Everything below opens when the ranch opens; nothing is for sale today.

One stay fee — everything included. When you stay at Milele Ranch, one fee covers everything on site: your pod, every activity, and three farm-to-table meals a day. The rate will be announced at opening, and it will be fully inclusive — no add-ons, no surprises.

Things to do while you're here

Planned for opening day — and all covered by the all-inclusive stay fee:

…and the list is still growing.

The Films

Six short films. The first is the ranch as we dream it. The second is an invitation in our founder's own voice. The next two are previews of a day here — one as our guest, one arriving home. The last two are our newest: an acted story of two doors — the one that closes, and the one we are building to open — and a day in the life of a child whose family finds home here. The day-in-the-life films are guided by friendly narrator voices; those voices are not Jami's. Only the invitation is Jami herself.

Milele Ranch — The Film

A cinematic look at the paradise oasis we are building — desert forest, water, flowers, and room to heal.

An Invitation, in My Own Voice

Our founder, Jamilyne Kane, invites you herself.

A Day in the Life — As Our Guest

From the gate code and the cherry-blossom drive to dinner delivered to your pod — your day, step by step.

A Day in the Life — Arriving Home

Food, a shower, and clean clothes first. Then a conversation like a human being — and an answer before nightfall.

Two Doors — An Acted Story

Actors tell the two stories every homeless disabled person knows: the door that closes — and the door that opens. We are building the second one.

A Day in the Life — Of a Child at Milele Ranch

He arrives scared, holding his parents' hands — and finds a playground, school, horses, and his own bed. Families stay together here. People come to grow, and so do their children.

Milele Ranch also works as a shelter and recovery community

Here is the part that makes Milele Ranch different: every stay, every ticket, and every event pays for the other half of this place. Milele Ranch is also a transitional community for homeless disabled individuals and families — people who have been turned away everywhere else.

Guests don't just fund that mission from a distance. On site, you meet the people your visit supports as your hosts, cooks, guides, and caregivers — because the guest side is their job training. Perception changes through direct contact, not argument.

People come to grow, and then they help others grow.

The Mission

Milele Ranch's mission is to create a safe, compassionate, accessible, sustainable community where vulnerable individuals and families can find stability, basic necessities, supportive services, community, and opportunities to rebuild their lives with dignity.

How it works

People come to grow, and then they help others grow. Housing is transitional while participants find permanent housing, with longer stays when none is available. Nobody is forced to leave before they are ready, and nobody who joins is ever put back out on the street. No medical condition gets anyone denied — care is on site, mental health staff included. Structure teaches clean, healthy living and keeps everyone safe — it never confines. Freedoms grow with engagement, and privacy grows with trust.

The ranch itself is the training ground: guest hospitality, food service, caregiving, animal care, construction, maintenance, and off-grid living are all taught by doing the real work of the ranch. Residents can grow into employees, with employee housing of their own.

The campus will run fully off-grid — solar and wind power, captured and recycled water, and waste turned into fertilizer — on 80 to 100 acres of desert forest, built to be self-sustaining so the program never depends on the next donation to survive.

Outreach

Outreach is not a side program at Milele Ranch. It is the reason Milele Ranch exists — and the guest side and the resident side are one integrated community, not two separate worlds.

Once we are open, we will provide three warm meals to anyone in the community — every single day.

No proof of need. No questions you have to earn your way past. If you are hungry, you eat — whether you live here, stay here, or simply walk in from the road.

And for neighbors who are not ready — or not able — to join the program, the door still opens: food, clothing, showers, and gear to survive outside with a little more dignity, including tents, backpacks that open into shelter, solar chargers, and drinking-water help. Joining is never the price of being treated like a person.

Every animal here is part of that same promise. Rescue animals get a permanent home at Milele Ranch — never rehomed — with veterinary staff on duty at all times, and every animal arriving with a new resident is examined by our own vets before it meets the others, for everyone's safety.

Our Story

Jamilyne Kane, founder of Milele Ranch

I'm Jamilyne Kane — Jami. I spent my early career caring for people with disabilities, earning my nursing credentials through the Center for People with Disabilities in Boulder, Colorado, and then worked as a registered nurse. My own disabilities ended that career — I could no longer stay on my feet.

I moved to Arizona looking for better healthcare and a warmer climate to work with my disabilities. Instead, I found a lot of closed doors and companies that abused their positions — and I ended up homeless. Shelters turned me away because my medical needs were too much. That is how I learned, firsthand, how few safe, accessible places exist for people like me.

Milele Ranch is the place I needed then: built by someone who has lived it, for everyone who is living it now. Milele means "forever" — because nobody who comes here should ever have to start over on the street again.

Questions & Answers

Ask us anything. Questions go privately to Jami, she answers them herself, and answered questions are posted here for everyone.

Q: What does a guest's money pay for?

A: Everything. Your stay fee is the engine of the whole ranch — it pays for the housing, the three free community meals, the on-site care, and the job training that lets residents run the ranch themselves, as your hosts, cooks, guides, and caregivers. A vacation here is also a hand up, whether you ever think about it again or not.
